Cross Country: Miller Edition

As you may know, I recently decided to do running-related sports, like Track. But today: Cross Country started.

So did football and soccer, but that's beside the point.

When Mom and I arrived at Miller Jr. High, there were at least 65 people standing outside of the gym doors, which made me think about just how big the team would be. When Coach Harless called for football, about 35% of the people left and followed him to the field. But then it happened: Coach Gucci (No, that's not her real name.) called for soccer. Approximately--i ain't no math wiz'rd--61% percent of the remaining people left, leaving five aspiring athletes left. Me included, of course.

Just as practice began, the final three members came. Then our coach Mr. Dove led us the the grass and, yuh know...stretched and stuff. Then we ran. A lot. Well, some people would laugh and call us sissies, but after a mile and a half in the semi-groomed terrain of behind the track fence and around the school, i was ready to drink up all of the Chehalis River. Granted it'd been purified and flavored with lemon.

Needless to say, I'm ready to go back tomorrow. And the day after that. And that. And that...
